Burton made his music video debut back in 2006, when he directed The Killers video for “Bones.” Not short of any skeletons, which seem ever-present around the directors work, this video was sewn together with the Tim Burton aesthetic.
Burton used shots of the band and scene juxtaposed together with a CGI (computer generated imagery) scene and characters. Burton has utilized CGI technology on films like ‘Corpse Bride’ and the upcoming ‘Alice in Wonderland’ (among other films).
With the man busy on post-production of “Alice in Wonderland” which hits theatres March 5, 2010, one can only wonder if he will ever direct another music video. With the press following Burton’s MoMA exhibit opening, and his new book, “The Art of Tim Burton” Burton has received a lot of buzz.
One of the biggest buzzers has been the comment made from Jamie Campbell Bower regarding his suggestion for Burton to direct ‘Breaking Dawn,’ the fourth installment of the insanely popular Twilight series. This comment was followed up by Ashley Greene's (who plays Alice in Twlight) validation of that comment.
Fans of Burton may have also seen other artists inspired by the Lewis Carroll 'Alice in Wonderland' story. This last week the opening number for 'So You Think You Can Dance' featured an "Alice" set and dance leaning on the wicked side of Burton, while MTV's "The City" star, Whitney Port's recent look book photo shoot features the girls posing in her clothes, at a whimsical Alice tea party (The Mad Hatter was MIA).
With so much inspiration blooming out of the "Alice" story, one can only wait for another music video to be inspired by this tale, and why not have the master himself direct it?
