- When something as magical as this happens between man and animal, Native Americans say, "We have walked together in the shadow of a rainbow". - Tom Sears on his Bear photos
When I first began talking to nightlights, learning about the spirit world and all of the seen and unseen others in my space who could deliver messages from spirit, I focused on developing a stronger connection to animals and learning about Power Animals.
Struggling with uncertainty in regard to my inner guides and guidance, it took me a few years to solidify and understand why I kept getting called to go to a certain church (San Francisco de Asis) but I answered the call and continue to go when I get the message. That space - for one who works with animals and animal spirit - is incredibly healing, no matter what your religion of origin.
Shamanic information was harder to find 20 years ago. The guides led me to Animal Speak by Ted Andrews and Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams. I tracked my daily interactions with spiders, birds, house pets and included pictures or images of all insects and animals. All were dutifully noted and interpreted.
Whatever roamed into my space was considered as a potential messenger. (Those who were squished also had to be acknowledged.) As the years have gone by, my attention span can ebb and flow, but when I am alert and focused, I get some wonderful surprises. Yesterday, it was a beautiful fox dashing through the yard in broad daylight.
Today's email forward from a friend, featuring a delightful and rare scene: Five bear cubs (Bear photos taken by Tom Sears, triggered a reminder to prepare for a shift in power and the change in season - in addition to other personal interpretations I relate to Bear medicine.
Readings of messages from power animals will vary given the age and disposition of the animal, the season, proximity, interaction, and relationship to other animals and humans in your life. I linked to generic interpretations for the bear and the fox. One who works with animals will discover that each can become more uniquely indicative in their ability to relate information about highly personal issues. When needed, animal messengers can and do talk. Their methods vary.
All shifts when a season dances into being. We shift too. When we learn to go with the flow and the energy of that shift, we can take advantage of the unique elements - of mind, body and spirit - reminding us to give up what no longer is necessary so that we may honor Nature's way of recycling and claim even greater gifts awaiting upon our re-awakening.
In the Heartland, we are falling into Winter. There is still a bit of time to play and gather supplies before taking a break and embracing the need for rest, recovery and rejuvenation - prior to the hectic birth and renewal phase of Spring.
