Although AMAZINGLY sexy, John Stamos'
haircut seen above would be frowned upon
by most managers. Be sure to avoid
the Stamos cut.

Whether male or female, bosses love to keep their hair easy to maintain.  Female managers keep it above the ear and male managers keep it high and tight.

Why do manager's love maintainable hairstyles?

It isn't really about them loving or hating certain hairstyles, though they will give you horrible looks for having long hair.  It's more about the lifestyle of a manager.  The hair is just the result. Manageable hair is neither in style or out of style -- it is just there.  Maintainable hair is a safe option, and though it does not make anyone excited, it does leave them feeling comfortable.  Think Chili's Bar and Grill.

My manager does not have easy to maintain hair.  What does this mean for me and my colleagues?

It means your manager is awesome and that you should never quit your job. A manager who sways from maintainable hair is rebellious.  These rebellious ways usually lead to less micro-management and more internet browsing.

I think that this is ridiculous and completely false.

When were you promoted to management?

How can I use this knowledge to advance my career?

There are three simple steps you can take to impress a manager with easy-to-maintain hair:

1. Always keep your hair high and tight. Showing scalp never hurt anyone.  Most people don't notice it, but manager's eat it for breakfast.

2. Ask your manager which salon or barbershop they frequent.  The short hair style requires frequent trips for trimming -- nearly every 3 weeks.  The barbershop is virtually a second home.  They'll be very excited that you want to use the same stylist and you'll eventually run into them.

3. Be aware of their frequent haircuts and always ask "did you just get a haircut?"  You'll be amazed at how often they answer yes and they'll feel very special.
