In a ruling today, Bernie Madoff was sentenced to the maximum 150 years in prison. The judge called his ponzi scheme "staggering." All of Madoff's assets will go to his victims.

The court room exploded in cheers and applause when the sentence was handed down. Victims of Madoff now have some relief, though many of them are still trying to recover from the financial mess that they have found themselves left with. There were about 100 victims in attendance.

According to reports on MSNBC, attorneys for Madoff will most likely appeal the sentence.
