22 Household uses for Shampoo!

Shampoo works as an effective degreaser – thus great for multiple household uses. Below is a list I compiled from both personal experience and tips from the internet. This is especially ideal for using that brand of shampoo you bought, but really didn’t like, or for doubling up on inexpensive brands like Suave ($1.50):

  1. Fill your liquid soap dispensers with shampoo. It's less expensive than liquid soap. It's also a great degreaser for your hands.
  2. Mix Shampoo with baking soda to clean chrome and use conditioner to make it shine.
  3. Dilute with a little water to use it as bubble solution for the kids.
  4. Use shampoo mixed with conditioner instead of shaving cream.
  5. Mix with water to clean nylon panty hose and other hand wash delicates
  6. Use shampoo (especially the fruity smelling stuff) as a substitute for bubble bath or shower gel.
  7. Use it to wash hard grime or bird poop off your car or truck.
  8. Remove your makup with shampoo and a soft cloth. Rinse your face with tap water afterwards.
  9. Use it as a spot cleaner. It will remove stains like the ring around the collar of your shirt or the exterior of your down jacket.
  10. Use shampoo to clean your brushes and combs. Remove all the hair and let it soak in the soapy mixture before rinsing.
  11. Fill a small bowl of water and a little shampoo to soak your fingernails. It cleans and conditions your cuticles
  12. Use baby shampoo to wash your dog or cat.
  13. Use it to wash your paint/arts and crafts brushes.
  14. Mix it with water to clean your hardwood floors
  15. Use baby shampoo and tap water to clean dirt in your eyes as well as your eyelashes. It helps to relieve dry eye irritation.
  16. Use shampoo to wash your sweaters.
  17. It works as great spot cleaner for your sofa or couch.
  18. Rub a couple drops of shampoo on the inside of your diving mask. Then, rinse clean with water. Your mask won't fog up when you're diving under the water!
  19. Grab the shampoo and a clean rag to spot clean the outside of your refrigerator and stove. It will remove greasy spots and food spills.
  20. Mix shampoo and baking soda to remove excess hairspray residue.
  21. Use it remove a stubborn ring off your finger
  22. It works well for cleaning the cork handles on old fishing poles.
