Are you still hanging on to that tube of mascara that you bought last fall? Does your bathroom counter looks like a dusty back stockroom of Sephoria? It may be time for a spring cleaning. Listed below is the typical shelf life of cosmetic products:
Loose Powder: 2 years Mascara: up to 3 months. 2 months if you use mascara daily. TIP: To make your mascara last, try turning the wand clockwise while in the tube instead of pumping it. If you pump the wand, you end up pushes more air in the tube and cause it to dry out more quickly. Puffs/Sponges: Discard monthly. You can wash them on a weekly basis, but old sponges carry oil and bacteria and you don’t want that on your face. Fragrances: up to 3 years from manufacture date. TIP: Keep your perfume in a dark and cool place. Direct sunlight can destroy a fragerence. Foundation: Water based up to 12 months, oil based up to 18 months Concealer: Up to 12 months Pencil liner: Up to 3 years – Sharpen with every use Eyeshadow: Up to 3 years Nail Polish: Up to 12 months. TIP: If your polish starts to dry out, add a little polish remover in the bottle, close and shake it up. Lip Stick: Up to 2 years. TIP: if your lipstick breaks or melts, use a lip brush to scoop out the color More info on Shelf:
