I hope everyone both two-footed and four-footed has a Happy Halloween! There are some events happening this weekend for those of you who don't have anything else to do. And there are, of course, lots of adoption events this weekend too if you're looking for a new best friend.

October 31–November 1

Raisin River Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Michigan All Breed Agility Trials, Canine Sports Recreation Center/Animal Recreation & Rehabilitation Center, 7275 Joy Rd., Dexter MI. Friday: 10:00 am – 7:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Saturday October 31

Regular Canine to Five Indoor Dog Park, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, Canine to Five, 3443 Cass Ave., Detroit, MI.

PAAW–Pet Adoption Alternative Warren Low-Cost Vaccination and Microchip Clinic, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Posh Paws, 25585 Crocker Blvd., Harrison Township, MI. Low-cost vaccination clinic for cats and dogs. $10 each for rabies, distemper and bordatella, $20 for microchipping (dogs only). All cats must be in carriers and all dogs on leashes. Cash only please.

Friday November 6

Household Manners Dog Obedience Classes, 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm, YMCA Birmingham, 400 E. Lincoln St., Birmingham, MI. A beginner class will be offered by For Better Independence ("FBI") from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm, followed by the advanced class from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Classes will run for six weeks. Age limit: 10 weeks of age and up. This is the entry level obedience class for all canines, designed for all breeds and all age groups of dogs. Topics covered in class: sit, down, stay, off (no jumping), come when called, leave-it, loose lead walking (no pulling on leash), quiet, housebreaking, crate training, collars and other equipment options, basic canine care and husbandry, feeding and grooming. **The first night is orientation without your dog.
