Tom Waits, viral marketer?

First, I just want to say that I am deeply disappointed that Mr. Waits isn’t making a stop in Denver. I may need to make a special trip elsewhere to catch him on tour.

That said, I really enjoyed the video “press conference” on his home page, and I’m watching to see if it gets any traction in the video sharing milieus. Tom isn’t exactly a recognizable figure for the Millennials (actually, he’s pretty niche in general), so it’ll be interesting to see, if the video goes viral, where it shows up.

Viral video is definitely a powerful way to build brand, but the alchemy of entertainment value and propagation is an art. But if anyone knows about alchemy and art, it would have to be Tommy the Cat.
