Southport, UK – Sammii Humphries and Daniel Sargent are the latest teen parents making headlines. 

Yes, they are young.  Sammii is fifteen and Daniel has just turned sixteen earlier this week.  Sammii was just 14 years old when the baby was conceived and the couple started dating when they were only 13. 

Yes, they are elated to be parents at such a young age.  Mom and Dad both have vowed to the media to be the best parents ever.

So, what is shocking about this case of teen pregnancy?  The most shocking part of this story is that Sammii and Daniel are twice parents—they had twins. 

Now, the UK's problems with teen pregnancy have been in the news a lot lately—I mean a lot, a whole lot.  This story almost seems sedate after seeing pictures of four foot tall 13 year old dad Alfie Patten all over the place.  Also, both parents and teachers alike are coming to the support of Sammii and Daniel—who have said they would continue their education in spite of their new distractions. 

The twins were only 28 months along when they were born and had been sustained by ventilators until their lungs were fully developed.  The brothers, Liam 3 lbs and Ryan 2lbs 9oz., had been in the hospital for the past four months.  Liam was recently released from the hospital, but Ryan is still under the watchful care of the doctors at Liverpool Women’s Hospital until he is strong enough to join them. 

To the credit of both Sammii and Daniel, both of them have been at the hospital watching their  twin boys through an undoubtedly difficult time.  Both Sammii and Daniel seem very much a couple and joke about which football (soccer) team their boys will grow up rooting for. 

Speaking about their boys Sammii said, “We love our sons and we can’t wait to get them home.”

“After the scan we were told it was girls, so it was even more of a shock when Sammii gave birth to boys,” said Daniel, “I am going to try and be the best father I can.”

Daniel has aspirations of becoming a policemen while Sammii wants to be a neo natal nurse after seeing and admiring those who cared for her premature boys.

When interviewed about the couple their head-teacher, Alison Heaton, said “They are taking the responsibility of parenthood very seriously, whilst studying hard for their exams.”

Now, for some reason, I get a better vibe from this couple then Alfie and Chantelle.  What are your thoughts on the case?  Are you done with teen pregnancy talk for a while?
