Balloon Boy's dad ex-con?
In 1984, Richard Heene (father of Balloon Boy) was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon. He received no jail time and was sentenced to three years probation. In 1991, Heene was arrested for corporal injury on a spouse, but he was not convicted. However, Richard did manage to spend time behind bars and leave it to TMZ to find out all the details. TMZ found out that Balloon Boy Dad (I just love typing that) was involved in a misdemeanor involving vandalism, vehicle tampering and disturbing the peace—but no hoaxes. From TMZ:
On April 15, 1997, Heene pled no contest to vandalism and the other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 2 years probation and ordered to pay restitution of $100. It appears from the court record Heene served only 4 days and was then placed under house arrest.
In the 1997 case Richard, his friends call him Dick and so does everyone else by now, was trying to run someone over and missed. His poor aim or a faulty legal system saved him an attemped murder charge. Instead of running an employee over that he owed money too, Richard simply hit his car--three times. Protective services please step in.
If you haven’t heard, Richard Heene told police that his son flew away in a metallic looking UFO style balloon as part of a
sick attention grabbing hoax.
Apparently along with Heene’s growing nose and list of lies is now his lengthening rap sheet. Kudos Heene! What next? Reckless endangerment? Maybe contributing to the deliquency of a minor? (Whoops!)
