So, I missed the debut episode of Modern Family but thanks to my neighbors I haven’t missed an episode since. Modern Family is the new ABC sitcom that follows the lives of three related families. Jay, Ed O’neill (you know…Al Bundy) is the patriarch of the family and recently remarried to a much younger and very hot Colombia woman Gloria (Sofia Vergara). Jay’s offspring, Claire and Mitchell, are busy with their own families. Mitchell and his partner (yeah, they’re gay—so what?) Cameron, have just adopted a Vietnamese boy and are figuring out how to parent and overcome stereotypes all at the same time. Claire has three kids and an over enthusiastic husband, Phil (Ty Burrell—from Dawn of the Dead and a bunch of other movies). The combination of families and storylines proves to make one very effective sitcom and one inspiring half an hour of television.
The best thing about the show is that it proves to have a moral backbone each episode. Life lessons are taught and best of all fatherhood is brought to the limelight. For example, check the clip below. To set it up, step-uncle and step-nephew (same age) had gotten into a fight in school. Phil tries to address the problem with the kids, Jay sees it falling from the mark and steps in the settle matters. Good stuff.

If you haven’t seen Modern Family yet, I think you should. So far I haven’t been disappointed and I am pretty hard to please.
