Milto's Mediterranean Café- Milto’s specializes in pizzas and traditional Mediterranean cuisine. They have everything from Italian delights and Greek gyros to European and traditional pizzas. They also offer a wide variety of pastas and salads. The menu varies normally somewhere under $10, unless you’re ordering an entire pizza, in this case it’s more. However they do offer pizza by the slice, which is my recommendation because the slices are well priced, fresh, and filling.

Burger Tex II- The original Burger Tex is located on Airport, but luckily for hungry college kids on the go they’ve opened a Burger Tex II on Guadalupe, right next to Toy Joy. Self proclaimed “best burger” in Texas.

Spicy Pickle- The Spicy Pickle offers a gourmet alternative to the ordinary chain sandwich. They serve up paninis, salads, soups, pizettis, and of course the go to sub sandwich. Try their adobe, with mesquite turkey, mozzarella, green peppers, corn relish, and chipotle mayo for something out of the unusual, or stick to what you know and order a loaded baked potato soup. They also provide many vegetarian alternatives. Whatever you choose, their menu is sure to leave you intrigued because everything sounds worth tasting.

Veggie Heaven- Do you like Asian cuisine? Are you a vegan, vegetarian, or just health conscious? Then Veggie Heaven is your haven. Everything on Veggie Heaven’s menu is either vegan or vegetarian compliable, and all are taste bud approved… right down to the eggless fried rice. Need a recommendation? Try the #23 Protein 2000, a delicious vegan dish with vegetable proteins made from soybeans, sweet brown sauce with broccoli, garlic and onions, with the vegan #28 Golden Fried Rice. You won’t be disappointed.

Crave- The closest place around the drag to get quality sushi and sashimi, Crave has a large and impressive menu and daily lunch and happy hour specials.

Dirty Martin’s- A classic landmark on the drag, Dirty’s needs no introduction. They are still the home of the famous Kum-bak burgers. If you’re brave, try the Large Chili Cheeseburger, a double meat burger smothered in chili and toped with cheddar cheese. For a lighter fare, go for the Sissy Burger. No matter what, you must try their chocolate malt; with its perfectly frothy and creamy consistency it is sure to make you “Kum-Bak” for more.

Magic Wok- Magic Wok is by no means a P.F. Chang's, but the prices make it worth trying. For even bigger savings, go during lunch where you can get full entrees with rice and an egg roll for around $6.

Torchy’s Tacos- The once food trailer turned brick and mortar eatery is a perfect place to stop by and grab breakfast or lunch. They have the typical breakfast taco menu, along with a very extended menu for lunch. Items such as the Trailer Park, fried chicken, green chilies, pico de gallo, and poblano ranch, make this place worth mentioning.

Slices ‘n Ices- The most convenient way to eat lunch on the go. Slices ‘n Ices is literally a little slice of New York on Guadalupe. Get a huge slice of pizza and an icee for about $4 and walk away will a full belly and a full wallet.

Trudy’s- Not quite on the drag, but just off the beaten path, is a more sophisticated but still inexpensive Mexican restaurant. Trudy’s has daily specials every day of the week including a note worthy happy hour. It is also vegetarian friendly, including items such as the vegetarian tacos (pictured), which is clearly a large amount of food. Everything here is served in huge portions for under $10, leaving you with plenty of leftovers for the rest of the week. Watch out for those Mexican martinis, they’re a doozy.
