Kentucky Tennessee football game tonight: Vols win 30-24 in OT
Kentucky Tennessee football game tonight: Vols win 30-24 in OT
Karla F.

The Kentucky Tennessee football game was today and it was an edge-of-your-seat thriller.  Kentucky tied the game 24-24 with a field goal with 33 seconds left in the game, driving the football game in to overtime.  However, the Vols pulled through and smashed the Wildcats' hopes of winning by scoring a TD during overtime.

Kentucky hasn't beat Tennessee since 1984, making the Vols winning streak one of the longest in college football history.  This is a glorious day for Tennessee, as losing to Kentucky would mean that it would be at least another quarter century before Tennessee could match their record winning streak.

Tennessee fans were scared when there was 2:21 left to play in the game. Luke Stocker fumbled the ball, and Kentucky recovered it.  This gave Kentucky the chance to score.  Had they scored a touchdown instead of a field goal, the game's outcome would have been very differently.

However, Vols fans are breathing a sigh of relief and enjoying yet another victory against the Kentucky Wildcats.

A note about the picture featured on this article: Yes, I know the Tennessee-Kentucky game was a football game and I am well aware that the Vols mascot is holding a basketball.  This drawing was sent to me directly from a local artist whose sister is a doctoral student at Tennessee.  Although I will use the picture a lot during basketball season, I was so excited when her father Roger sent it to me that I had to use it tonight. Thanks, Karla for this wonderful picture.
