Once a week I will be spotlighting a unique venue in or around Atlanta. The first venue I am going to be spotlighting is The Trolley Barn.

I had a wonderful opportunity to work an event that was held there a year ago and was amazed by this facility! It is an amazing and versatile place to have a wedding. Not to mention, it is located in the heart of Inman Park and all its Victorian mansions.

Here is a little history about The Trolley Barn.

It opened in August of 1889 as the service and housing facility for Atlanta’s first electric street railway line – which ran from downtown Atlanta to Inman Park. Wow, Atlanta and electric street railway, I wish I had been here to see that!

The Trolley Barn did not serve its original purpose for very long though and the following years served as a church, basketball court, farmers market, and as a storage and repair facility for antiques among other things. As you can see, this venue is truly versatile!

I’d say The Trolley Barn found its true calling as an event venue. The main hall is 2,759 square feet and can accommodate up to 250 for standing or buffet-type events, up to 200 for seated dinners, and up to 300 seated for auditorium type functions. Oh, and did I mention the main hall’s 30 foot ceiling is spanned by its original 1889 beams (don’t worry it is safe)?

Outdoors are also an option, whether for the actual wedding ceremony or for use during the reception. A 40 x 60 foot brick patio can accommodate additional guests as well. A tent is available for rent to be used over the patio – in the cold or warmer months. Just a side note: you can rent portable heaters from event rental places in Atlanta and the tent will be nice and toasty. I know from experience. When I was at The Trolley Barn event, it was actually December.

Additional facilities of The Trolley Barn include: a serving kitchen adjacent to the main hall, an 800 square-foot mezzanine overlooking the hall, a 2,400 square-foot general purpose room or staging area located underneath the main hall. And unlike many other venues, The Trolley Barn is open to service by an licensed and insured caterer.

At The Trolley Barn, you can get a nice breeze from the outdoors without having to worry about the threat of rain. Be sure to check out The Trolley Barn!
