SEO (search engine optimization) is the act of generating organic or natural leads online through search engine rankings. These are not paid ads, but content driven results. Well, what is all that worth? It can be worth gold for companies that have little marketing funds, or large marketing funds. In other words, it is relative to each manager or entrepreneur. However, there are some strategies to determine the worth of SEO.
In the beginning SEO, could consist of a blog and using it to generate interest in a Web site. Today, it is more complicated. It includes social media of all types and any other free marketing online, i.e. classifieds on Craigslist.
Due to the fast level of importance for all business and government sectors, I believe that SEO is worth a healthy segment of any business. For instance, I feel that about 80% of online business success, and about 30% for traditional businesses is attributed to SEO. These percents consider the customer service and the product satisfaction factor. The worth of SEO can make or break a business because of the longevity regarding the content. For example, people search reviews and base their buying habits on them. The behavior of consumers are measured according to marketing information found in Sherpa.com.
It is up to the individual company to determine whether being found on the first page of Google is important, or if referrals from word of mouth works best. Either way, SEO is here to stay and has shown itself to be a formidable task to accomplish with the D-I-Y tips or by a professional.
