Daylight Savings Time ends November 1nd 2009. it's been used since Benjamin Franklin invented it but wasn't until the railroads standardized timetables with it that it became the ubiquitous global hiccup we practice today.
My mom would recite it in the form of Robert Louis Stevenson versus. Those same versus her mother, my grandmother, had recited to her:
In winter I get up at night and dress by yellow candlelight.
In summer quite the other way, I have to go to bed by day.
Personally speaking, I've always loved DST. My early bird dad, on the other hand, can't stand it. Oh, and yes, I know there's that conjecture circulating out there. Conjecture circulating that this DST thing a massive culprit vis-a-vis NRG wasting due to that additional hour of fully cranked conditioned air.
Well, according to my research the connection between Daylight Savings Time and energy use, actually varies state to state to state and region to region. Whether or not DST wastes or saves energy also depends on the University conducting the research study! Finally, like many environmental culprits out there, it’s individuals, not clock settings, that determine whether or not electricity is being used and abused.
Oh, and speaking of clock settings: the Denverites out there who wanna be precise are gonna reset their clocks at 2:00a.m. The time at which everyone else in Denver resets their clocks will be, well…that will also vary.
