Is Mayor John Hickenlooper headed to bigger things than Denver? Washington? Hollywood, maybe?
The mayor appeared in the first "Hick Town" documentary video shot by his Emmy Award-winnning cousin George Hickenlooper and producer RJ Cutler. Among the guest stars in the "Spin City"-ish opener: Federico Pena, a smoochy Ken Salazar and the star of the 100,000 fan Civic Center rally Sunday, Barack Obama.
The mayor manages to get off his trademark quip about being "the other skinny Democrat with a funny last name" -- though from Obama's reaction, it's not clear whether he understood.
According to the Rocky Mountain News, the mayor's office had no comment about the possibility of this becoming an on-going series. Still, Hickenlooper has appeared game in front of cameras. Among his memorable moments, squeaking with helium balloons with Gov. Bill Ritter and sky diving out of an airplane to promote various local causes. And there was more than a little twinkle in his eye when he announced the filmmaker John Sayles would produce "Silver City" in Denver in 2003.
