PETA2, the youth division of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has announced the 2009 Most Vegetarian Friendly Colleges.
In order for a campus to be eligible, the college had to be recommended by students then provide PETA2 with recipes and photos of vegetarian and vegan meals. Once accepted, the colleges were placed in a bracket where students could vote on which colleges would make the cut and move to the next round.
Wesleyan University was victorious and sealed the number one spot thanks to the variety of vegetarian cuisine available including, veggie chicken red curry, three-mushroom vegan ragu pasta, and barbecue seitan. Wesleyan’s food service set up voting stations in the dining halls to help achieve the win.
Oberlin College pulled through with the number two spot. Students at the Ohio college can treat themselves to tempeh and wild mushroom fricassee, vegetable stew, seitan pepper steak, and barbecue tofu pizza.
