If you’ve been keeping up with this Charity Examiner the last few days, you’ve noticed I’ve been spotlighting current holiday food drives in the Milwaukee area. Today’s article is no exception. Read on.

Featured Food Drive:

Milwaukee Capitol Holiday Food Drive

This food drive, which has been going on for awhile now, will continue to collect food donations until Friday, November 20th, 2009.  Donation drop-off location is at the North Shore Bank at 7927 W. Capitol Drive in Milwaukee.

Donations are welcome during the following bank business hours:

Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Similar to the current food drive being held at The Milwaukee Art Museum, this drive also benefits Hunger Task Force.

Here is a list of needed non-perishable food items requested by Hunger Task Force:

  • canned pears, apricots, pineapple, peaches
  • dry cereal
  • oatmeal
  • grits
  • pancake mixes
  • canned meat, poultry, fish
  • peanut butter
  • beans
  • canned chili and stews
  • nuts
  • canned corn, green beans, carrots, peas
  • powdered or concentrated infant formula
  • baby food
  • diapers
  • pastas
  • rice
  • macaroni and cheese
  • canned or dry soup

So go ahead and search through your cabinets for these items, or maybe pick up an extra item or two at Pick n' Save during your next grocery trip.  It's the small things that make a big difference.
