Mention Colombia and hearty home cooking might not be the first thing that comes to mind. But that will change after a meal at Mi Tierra Restaurant. This family-oriented eatery features traditional Colombian food and friendly service in a relaxed venue.
Recommended starters at Mi Tierra Restaurant
The owners and chefs are from the Medellin area in Colombia, so the menu bursts with authentic flavours from Indian, Spanish and African culinary influences. Start with a shrimp ceviche marinated in a spicy blend of lime juice, onions and tomatoes. Crisp salads with mixed greens or thinly sliced cabbage, coriander and carrot are dressed in just the right amount of house vinaigrette.
Mi Tierra main dishes
Mains include typical dishes, like Bandeja Paisa, a platter heaped with grilled beef, thick bacon, chorizo sausage, ripe avocado, plantain and rice topped with a fried egg. Portions are generous enough to share but delicious enough to finish solo. An agreeable Chilean red or white house wine is well-priced, poured by the glass, half-litre or litre.
Fill up on delectable home-made corn bread or leave room for the Spanish version of caramel custard.
