With the Spore Creature Creator only 24 hours old, EA Maxis sent out press releases gloating over the 250,000 creatures already created by players and shared to the public Sporepedia.
That’s a lot of make-believe monsters.
Checking in today, that number is close to a half-million.
For those a little fuzzy on the math, by the time Spore launches in September, there will be over 40 million user generated creatures to drop into the Spore universe. And that’s assuming that the rate of creations doesn’t increase. Which it will.
Because the Creature Creator is Spore just getting started. It’s not hard to image that before Christmas, Spore will have the largest amount of content available for any game ever. Sure, maybe the diversity won’t match that of Second Life. But what is there, there will be more of it, more creatures, more buildings more vehicles and, most likely, more players.
Just like the Big Bang, when Spore hits the shelves, expect it to blossom into billions and billions of new, interesting and novel creations to explore. Carl Sagan would be proud.
