Normally I like to take Fridays to make up a list of something.
This week I'm going to skip that bit of high jinx to provide you a fair warning:
Go out and buy the Nintendo Wii Fit package as soon as you can when it launches on Monday.
Gamers might like to scoff at this bathroom scale-cum-videogame peripheral. But I've had a chance to put it through the paces at home, with my kids, my roommate, his kids and my girlfriend. And I'm convinced. Wii Fit is going to be a big hit and those who want it are going to be roaming around the Target isle in search on one.
Look, Grand Theft Auto IV sold a lot of copies. It sold a gangster trunkload of copies. But even if it goes on to sell 20 million more units and puts the its developers into Pablo Escobar kind of money, there are probably still more people who have watched "Sex in the City" than care about Nico's climb to the top of the crime ladder.
And those are the kinds of people that are going to want to play Wii Fit.
It's fun, it's interesting and it promises to help you lose weight. Sorry, but the love of pretending to steal cars or shoot space monsters pales in comparison to American's obsession with losing weight the easy way.
So get your Wii Fit balance board for $90 when it goes on sale Monday and avoid the rush. You can thank me by buying me a protein shaked next time you see me sporting my new Wii Fit figure down at the gym.
