The folks over at Slow Food USA lost their minds a bit earlier this month and declared September a membership drive month. The deal? A donation of any amount gets you a full Slow Food USA membership for a year. Presumably, for as little as $1 you can become a member.

Messages from Slow Food USA say they are trying to increase their membership numbers. Only time will tell how wise a decisions this really is since such membership drive tactics usually result in a steep non-renewal rate the next year. And the cost of servicing a large number of new members with some of their fancy four-color publications will be enormous.

But hey, that's their problem, right?

Membership rates go back to $60 per year on October 1, so if you've been thinking about dipping your toe into the world of Slow Food USA, now is the time.
