As a student of the government, and politics, and conservation and liberalism, I would consider myself open to most political statements, and choose to evaluate them based upon their merit. A recent article, entitled "Democrats should thank God for Conservatives like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh."
I read this article with hesitancy, fearing that I would be venturing into the realm of Leftist extremes. Much to my surprise, I found myself agreeing with this article. A little bit of research, and I decided to put this piece out there. First, we're going to go over Sarah Palin. Then we'll get to Rush Limbaugh.
Who is Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin is an Idaho born politician from Alaska. Her political experience includes being on the Wasilla City Council, serving as Wasilla City Mayor, and of course as Governor of Alaska. During her time as Mayor, she renovated her mayor's office at a cost of $50,000, telling one City Council member "I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't." She also fired a librarian, as well as the Chief of Police, because they 'did not fully support her efforts to govern the city.' She later retracted the termination of the librarian, stating that it was just a test of loyalty.
She later spent a record $150,000 on a wardrobe just for her 2008 VP campaign. Not to mention the numerous times she used Alaskan tax payer money to put her and her entire family up in five star hotels, and accomodate them with first class airfare.
After losing miserably in the 2008 election, she resigned from the post of Alaska State Governor, and openly admitted it was because she was under pressure due to an ethics investigation. This is the woman that is supposedly spearheading and reviving the Republican party? Palin was quoted to say:
They are also building schools for the Afghan children so that there is hope and opportunity in our neighboring country of Afghanistan.
All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years.- Sarah Palin, unable to name a single newspaper or magazine she reads, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008
Well, let's see. There's ? of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there's never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ?Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008
I think on a national level your Department of Law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out."--Sarah Palin, referring to a department that does not exist while attempting to explain why as president she wouldn't be subjected to the same ethics investigations that compelled her to resign as governor of Alaska, ABC News interview, July 7, 2009
As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border."-Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS's Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008
These are just some of her more famous quotes that I stumbled upon while putting the search term 'Famous Palin Quotes' into Google.com. As you can see, she's not the brightest light on the runway. This is the woman who is now said to be a huge contender for the 2012 Presidential race. Really?
Moving on to Rush Limbaugh. Who is he? He's a Missouri born radio host. When comparing Rush Limbaugh to Palin, she actually seems qualified to be a President. He has no political experience outside of commentary. The man didn't even register to vote until he was 35. He has done radio commentary nearly all his life. His mother said he flunked out of college. Palin could at least graduate, with, a degree related to journalism and commentary.
He is all criticism about Obama, yet he can't think of any solutions to help our nation, other than to re-establish racial segregation.
We need segregated buses. This is Obama's America.
Really? Bring back segregation? Why stop there Rush? Why not move on to The Second Civil War? Rush Limbaugh has also been quoted to talk down about Nelson Mandela, calling him communist and stating that it's wrong to take away the white government there. Talking bad about Nelson Mandela is like laughing at a terminally ill person. It's just not right. He's even told a black American woman, on national radio, to take the bone out of her nose and call him back. Freedom of speech or gross slander?
He has even gone so far to make the statement that our President Barack Obama, is a Halfrican American, and that he hopes he fails. If Obama fails at what he's trying to accomplish, America fails. What kind of an American would wish that upon another American? I guess it's not too bad for him, seeing as how he just signed that $400,000,000.00 contract, but still. More of Limbaugh's racism can be found here. How can he, a person who has actually been convicted of drug abuse (not when he was younger, but just a few years ago), a person who dropped out of college, a person who is a known and established racist, a person with no political experience at all, be qualified to critique our President and his administration? His information is worth as much as a heater to a person in Hell. Yet still he commands over 20,000,000 listeners each week. How many of these people are bigots? How many of them are uneducated? What's worse, how many of them are educated?
With leaders like this, I'm glad that I am no longer a Republican. I'm glad that I can stand outside of the smearing, slandering bigotry that spews from these hateful, and uneducated mouths. God bless America, and it's Leaders, and hope that America will always choose people that won't set us back. A true American would pray for it's leaders to make the correct decisions and think things through, rather than condemn them.
