Tea Party update - more than 4k in Orlando; Video

Week after week, more people are gathering at "Tea Parties" across the country in protest to the outrageous spending and government corruption currently commonplace in Washington D.C. This weekend, citizens of Orlando made news with more than 4,000 protesters coming out in support of the national effort to gain the attention of our government leaders.
The video below is a great slideshow, showcasing the event in the center of Florida where protesters waved signs, recited the pledge of allegiance and rallied at the speech of Bud Hedinger, a local radio host who gave the opening remarks.
In the last few months, several cities across the nation have held their own versions of "taxpayer tea parties" with thousands in attendance at the Cincinnati event earlier this month.
The New American Tea Party is the national group organizing many of the protests and has a running list of cities and dates for future events. All protests thus far have been precursors to the nationwide "Tax Day Tea Party" scheduled for April 15, 2009.
In addition to public protests, there is a viral email campaign that is sweeping the internet urging taxpayers to mail tea bags to the White House. The plan is to send a single tea bag on April 1st to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC 20500. Security officials have said they are treating actual tea bags as a threat (much like anthrax) and will destroy any suspect packages. Those who still wish to send a message to President Obama are being encouraged to send a tea bag label or a picture of a tea bag to make a statement.
The point of the tea bag mailing protest isn't really to flood the White House with tea, but rather to gain the attention of the president and his cronies that have no regard for fiscal responsibility or the oath they took to uphold the Constitution. Whether the security crew at the White House mailbox is stuck destroying tea bags or pictures of tea bags is really of no consequence. The organizers of the tea party events and tea bag mailings are not suggesting any mallace, harmful or illegal activity. Either way, sending real tea bags or pictures of them, taxpayers are hoping to make a statement to the Obama administration: "a revolution is brewing" as Michelle Malkin's website has made clear.
