What is Product Testing?

Product testing is exactly what it sounds like.  Companies who have products for sale pay people to test those products.

The type of products available for testing ranges from books and movies to websites, soap samples, stop-smoking techniques, and a multitude of other products and services.  Payments for product testing typically ranges from .60 to $20.00.

The Process

  1. Register for an account.
  2. Verify your e-mail, phone number, and other information.
  3. Review the different products that can be tested.
  4. Select a product or service.
  5. Read their FAQs and Terms of Service: things to look over include the terms of testing, the conditions of payment, and the amount being paid.  For example, a book club might pay $10.00 to anyone interested in joining.  The minimum membership length might be a minimum of 7 days.  Once that person has tried the membership for 7 days, he can cancel and receive the payment.  Another company might pay $5.00 to receive a newsletter for 14 days.  Another company might pay $2.00 to try a free sample of skin lotion with no membership required.
  6. Test the product.
  7. Receive your payment:  regarding payment, most of the product testing offers pay immediately, and the portal site with which you register keeps a running total of the amount due.  Once your reaches the minimum payout—typically $25.00—you will receive a check. or a deposit into your PayPal account.  Regarding some of the offers that do not pay immediately, do not procrastinate canceling the membership in hopes that tomorrow you’ll be credited.  Although there are processes in place to complain if one of the advertisers doesn’t pay, the determination of whether to pay or not rests with the advertisers.  Basically, if you don’t get your credit immediately, chances are, you won’t.

Does Product Testing Pay?

I received a little over $100 for about two hours worth of work.  The two hours was stretched over about five days.  The amount of money you can make product testing is limited because you can only test each product once, and not many new products are added to the site.  Although I cashed out quickly because I wanted to see if it was a gimmick, I would guess the amount of money someone could make the second month would range from $25 to $75.
