Lexington, Kentucky. Graduating from college is exciting, but also can be very frightening. The best way to overcome any type of fear is knowledge. Knowing about careers and potential employers is a big step in being prepared. Bluegrass Community and Technical College is hosting a Fall Career Fair on November 18. The career fair will be held on the cooper campus from 1pm to 4pm in the AT building lobby.
If you are a student who attends primarily Leestown and Regency campuses, shuttle buses are available. The representatives at the career fair could be potential employers, so you want to make a great first impression.
Some tips for making a lasting impression and securing they remember you out of hundreds of other students also vying for that career.
• Dress for success. Dress in appropriate attire for the career you are interested in. For example do not wear scrubs to the career booth for running a business.
• Come Prepared. Have a resume. Make sure it is free of spelling and grammatical errors. Make sure your resume includes reliable business references. Make several copies so that you can leave your resume with prospective employers. If you are unsure what makes a good resume try the templates at www.office.microsoft.com.
• Do your research. Make sure you know about the history and future of the company you are interested in working for. Go to their website and look at the company’s annual report.
