The Ukraine flu, a version of H1N1, is described by the World Health Organization (WHO) as "similar" to the Novel A H1N1 virus commonly known as swine flu. This virus claims more lives every day in the Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian health ministry, 344 people have now died due to this virus, eighteen of these fatalities occurred in the past 24 hours.

In addition to the rising mortality rate, the flu present in the Ukraine appears to be highly contagious as well. In the past 24 hours, nearly 45 thousand more Ukrainians have become ill with the flu.
Ukrainian Prime Minister's actions to slow the spread of the flu
Ukrainian Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, has been accused of using the flu outbreak as a political tool to increase her chances of winning the upcoming election. Mass gatherings have been banned, while PM Tymoshenko gives a television address each night to keep the Ukrainians updated on the flu situation. PM Tymoshenko has experienced a dramatic increase in popularity during the flu crisis.
