Just in a matter of a few days, I’ve noticed a lot of women wearing flowers or other prints on their jeans. Some of them even had a pretty velvet design.
Well, that pretty design is called trompe l’oeil. I am not sure how to pronounce it, but I know what they are. They have a black velvet burnout print that’s often seen on the walls of houses in France.
I know that from reading my Nylon magazine today. Appliqué jeans are going to be a big trend, if not already. But instead of paying $200 for them, you can either buy them for less or make them yourself.
You can find them at stores such as Amazon or T.J. Maxx. They will bring in a ton of merchandise that may have not sold, and will discount them at up to 60% off. Newport News and QVC always have appliqué jeans at reasonable prices.
Or, you can dress up your boring jeans by taking a trip to Michael’s or Joann Fabrics. They will have a great selection of iron-on appliqués. Don’t follow the trends – do your own thing and add prints that you like. Just don’t go for a childish print. Pick butterfly or flower prints in dark colors such as black or brown. They’ll stand out, but in a good way.
Your friends will be wondering where you got your fabulous jeans!
