Could it be because the first has been such a smashing success?
From Reuters:
U.S. President Barack Obama's administration is not discussing a second stimulus plan to jolt the U.S. economy out of recession, a White House budget official told Congress on Wednesday.
"No one in the administration is talking about a second stimulus at this point," said Robert Nabors, deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget, who is tracking the effects of the economic recovery plan already in effect.
The first stimulus hasn't stimulated because it was loaded with pork for favored liberal constituency groups. In light of the recent dismal economic indicators, specifically the 9.5% unemployment rate, most Americans have looked at the $787 billion price tag and concluded that they clearly aren't getting their money's worth.
As this gargantuan and extravagant waste of taxpayer dollars has become apparent, Obama's favorability ratings have started to plunge, most notably in the key swing state of Ohio.
Obama's decision not to roll out another boondoggle indicates that he has the good sense not to pour gasoline on a fire.
