(St. Petersburg Police Department video grab)

Surveillance video caught two burglars in action trying to break into a residence in St. Petersburg.  One of the men even tried to break down a door with his body.  The video shows the burglars trying to pry open a side door.  When that didn't work, one of the men backed up to the fence in the yard, took a “football stance” and ran toward the door. The burglar hit the door and bounced off, landing on the ground writhing in pain while his partner checks on him while apparently on a cell phone call.

After these break-in attempts failed, the suspects threw a brick through a window and entered the home. Once inside, the suspects set off the alarm and then fled. Nothing was taken from the home.

Police say the suspects got away in a small, 2-door, red car.  Anyone with information is asked to please contact St. Petersburg Police Detective Ricardo Lopez, Burglary, 727-892-4830 or the Communication Center, 727-893-7780.

This video from tampabay.com shows the 'ramming' attempt.
