
A successful business coach is one who possesses a rare combination of business expertise, real world experience, and excellent interpersonal skills. This person also knows the importance of balancing the personal and business life.
Kelly O’Neil, founder of UpLevel Strategies, Inc., has taken this skill one step further, referring to her work and services as coachsulting. She asserts, “I don’t believe that pure coaching or pure consulting works, which is why I’ve crafted a unique blend of both methods. I help clients achieve the mindset they need to attain the business success I help to create. No other coaching or consulting program offers such a holistic approach to success.”
O’Neil admits that she grew up in an affluent community in Silicon Valley. "My dad was an entrepreneur and very successful. But he was also keen on making us work for what we wanted. Unless it was food or shelter, we had to earn it," she says. "This gave me the work ethic I carry with me today."
After graduating college, O’Neil went on to a successful career in internal marketing and public relations with several companies, garnering acclaim and recognition. "I was earning six figures by the time I was in my mid-twenties," she notes.
Reaching a pinnacle early on gave her the foresight to go out on her own. "I realized I could work fewer hours and make more money doing something I really loved," she says. At 27, she opened a public relations consulting company but still felt she was slaving away as a “high priced employee.”
“I wasn’t happy. I began to think of ways I could leverage myself and help others achieve optimal success in their own businesses," she states. She trained as a coach, earning multiple certifications. In 2003, she opened UpLevel Strategies, Inc., specializing in working with service professionals to market their businesses to the affluent.
“I’ve devised a very specific blue print that literally walks my clients through a step-by-step process on how to find, attract, and maintain affluent clientelle,” she says. She acts as “coachsultant” to clients who represent three areas in the professional services: personal -- stylists, chefs, fitness trainers; professional -- accountants, attorneys, holistic medical experts; and business to business – coaches, marketers.
UpLevel Strategies offers several programs with which to become involved, each requiring a monthly fee. The programs include webinars, teleseminars, events, and in some cases, one-on-one coaching. O’Neil herself only takes one V.I.P. client a month but has personally trained coach Craig Miller to work with clients.
