The water cooler is buzzing with the latest news that Fedor Emelianenko beat Brett Rogers in the Strikeforce M-1 Global heavyweight bout airing on CBS Saturday night. Fedor put Rogers away at 1:48 in the second round with a powerful overhand right followed by a three hard blows on the ground, landing him a respectable win over the heavy-handed Rogers.

However Fedor is no stranger to winning. With an impressive record of 31-1 he is revered as the best fighter that mixed martial arts has ever seen. A decorated Sambo champion, Fedor has won the World Combat Sambo Championships on four separate occasions. His most recent win took place at the Russian Combat Sambo Championships.

Starting from humble beginnings Fedor gained strength and perseverance by serving in the Russian military and as a firefighter. He attained the official certification of a "Master of Sports" in both Judo and Sambo in 1997 and became part of the national team. In 2000 Fedor started in mma for financial reasons. Little did he know that his powerful strength and will coupled with his razor sharp technique would land him an impressive record and world renown.
