Jodie Sweetin was best known for the sweet and spunky character of Stephanie Tanner on the sitcom, Full House. However, America’s darling, who co-starred on Full House from age 5 to 13, was hiding a major secret; she was a crystal meth addict.
Jodie was always a gorgeous child and was destined to be a adult beauty but her abuse of the synthetic drug deteriorated her looks quickly and severely. She lost several teeth (the least of her problems) and her family, divorcing husband, LAPD officer Shaun Holguin. She was able to hide her addiction for quite some time but her erratic, drug-induced insanity and wild behavior eventually gave away her secret. Jodie made a choice to fight the battle of her methamphetamine use because she was headed on a downward spiral quickly and didn’t have much left to lose besides her life.

Regardless of the fact that Jodie, 22, was put into a hospital after a night of partying in 2005 and worked toward overcoming her demons prior to splitting with her husband, it did not save her marriage. They divorced not long after she left treatment and began living in a sober living environment to ensure her sobriety and abstinence from the drug of her choice.
Soon thereafter, Jodie Sweetin then met Cody Herpin, a film transportation coordinator, through friends, and the couple began dating in May 2007. They tied the knot two months later. They newlyweds found out that they had wasted no time starting a family; Jodie was pregnant and they had healthy baby girl named Zoie.
At age 26, she made a six figure book deal with Simon & Schuster about her battle with the drugs, alcohol and being a new mother which will be released in late 2009.
Jodie’s fairytale has come to a halt again as her second husband, Cody Herpin also left her recently because as a recovering addict/alcoholic, she relapsed by drinking several glasses of wine. Her husband was granted an emergency court hearing to, as he stated, “get custody” of their 8 month old daughter.
Jodie’s failure to remain sober hasn’t seemed to hurt her book deal. A representative for the book publisher told Star Magazine that they are going to continue publishing her book and it will still be released on time, fall of 2009. When asked if they would incorporate Jodie’s new relapse, separation and problems into the book, the publisher had no comment.
Recovery from alcohol and drugs is a lifelong struggle and a daily battle and trying to beat it while under public scrutiny makes it even harder. Those who watched her grow up in their living rooms every week, wish her luck in her personal and private circumstances and hope she will find solace and peace in both areas of her life.
