As of Tuesday afternoon, 3 percent more people had voted in today's Israeli election than had voted at the same time in 2006, Israel's last general election.

Analysts had predicted lower voter turnout because of popular apathy. The weather in Israel today is also very rainy.

The four main parties vying for control of Israel include centrist Kadima, led by Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, center-right Likud, led by former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, left-wing Labor, led by Defence Minister Ehud Barak of Labor, and right-wing Yisrael Beiteinu, headed up by Avigdor Lieberman.
