The Reverend Jesse Jackson recently complained aloud that Ron Huberman was not the right person for the job of Chicago Public School CEO.
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
And he even held a press conference and was accompanied by, Dorothy Brown, the Clerk of the Circuit Court and others. In the old days, Jackson would have had a crowd. A prominent crowd of bashers against whatever it was he was bashing.
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
The fact is Jesse Jackson has lost what little influence he had left. Oh it didn't start with the crack about cutting President Obama's n . . .
Ron Huberman doesn't fit the Jesse Jackson mold, apparently. Come to think of it, Barack Obama didn't fit that mold either. It took a long time for Jesse Jackson Sr. to get on board the Obama train and by the time he tried to it was far too late. When Barack Obama ran for Congress in 2000 against incumbent Congressman Bobby Rush, Jackson supported Rush. In the 2004 race for the United States Senate, Jackson was less than enthusistic about Obama's candidacy then.
And when Obama announced for President of the United States, it was lukewarm support.
The purpose here is not to bash Jesse Jackson but to say to him, knock it off. Stand up and support Ron Huberman. But remember this: Ron Huberman will succeed with or without your support. So my advice to Jackson: get on the bandwagon. You never know how far this Huberman fellow can go.
Mayor of Chicago. Mayor Ron Huberman.
