November is American Diabetes Month. Many people don't really understand what diabetes is all about. A recent survey by the American Diabetes Association found that "in general, Americans earned a 51% when asked a series of questions about a disease so common that it strikes every 20 seconds."
The CDC lists diabetes as the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, with 72,449 deaths per year, and "1 out of every 3 children born today will face a future with diabetes if current trends continue", according to the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
