In a flash, Adobe changes search results

July 1, 1:49 PM

Flash Player has been added to search engines.
Adobe announced today that its new optimized Flash Player technology will allow search engines to index Flash-based Web sites.

Currently, search engines like Google and Yahoo can see Flash files, but not the content inside. The new technology changes that, and Google and Yahoo are the first two search engines to sign on. (Google already is rolling it out.)

Now when you're searching, you'll be able to receive rankings of RIAs (Rich Internet Applications) and other content running in Flash Player. And the switch will happen automatically, so developers don't have to change anything to make it searchable.

For more info: Check out what Computerworld has to say about the Flash upgrade here.
