GM so far has refused to discuss pricing of the Volt.
Toyota, meanwhile, continues development of its own plug-in hybrid electric, with hopes of beating GM to market.
Katsuaki Watanabe, president of Toyota Motor, said earlier this year at the Detroit auto show that his company will introduce two new hybrids at the 2009 show. One will be marketed under the Lexus brand, the other under Toyota. Both will be based on technology currently available in Toyota's popular Prius hybrid.
