Barack Obama said he will appoint a
Cabinet-level "chief technology officer"
if elected.

This line from a New York Times opinion piece says it all: "the Obama campaign has made a statement . . . grounded in technology" with its design for the Democratic National Convention.

Barack Obama has been called many things, and he might rightfully be called the "first technology president" should he win election in November. He's already called for the creation of a "chief technology officer" Cabinet-level position.

You can contrast that with John McCain's stance on technology; he even said he was "computer illiterate." But don't think the presumptive Republican nominee doesn't understand the need for government to embrace technology to help provides services for its citizens; he's already said that would be part of his plan.

We can see whether Obama touches on technology during his speech at Invesco Field in Denver tonight. But when you check out the stage, pay attention to the tech touches he and the Democrats are employing in their design. The Dems took advantage of digital lighting at the Pepsi Center earlier this week; don't think they won't do the same at Invesco on an even bigger stage tonight.
