Knowing the TSA's rules is paramount for business travelers. (TSA)

Call this a PSA about the TSA - starting today, you can go through airport security without having to remove your laptop from its bag.

That is, if you have the right kind of bag.

The summer travel season may be winding down, but not for business travelers. And it's always good to stay up-to-date on the latest rules and regulations from the TSA.

That includes today's change regarding laptops, which you can read about here. It's basically the follow-up to the information in this earlier post.

The key point - the laptop has to be visible within the bag.

If you want to stay current with TSA security regulations, this page on the TSA Web site is a great resource. I make sure I check it periodically since airport security rules are seemingly ever-changing.

And with snow already flying in the Colorado mountains just west of where I live, it's a good time to remind folks planning ski vacations (including business travelers hoping to get in a few runs this winter) that you've got to check those ski poles - they will not be allowed as carry-on baggage!

If you want a solid way to transport your skis, check out one of my earlier posts on how to protect your important gear when traveling.
