Seems my recent post about drivers needing to go hands-free if they want to talk via mobile phone was well-received - or maybe those folks who think driving with one hand on the wheel and the other pressed against their head simply didn't bother to write.

In any event, I'm hearing about lots of products available to make driving and talking easier and safer, and also to help drivers comply with the law.

MINIKIT

Parrot offers plenty of ways to take advantage of its Bluetooth wireless hands-free technology, and is known as a worldwide manufacturer of car kits, both installed and plug-and-play. You can check them out here

If you're on a budget, consider the MINIKIT, which retails for $89.99.

It's compact, portable, and has DSP-2 signal processing algorithms and a high-definition 2W speaker.

It's a good choice if you want a phone that will easily go from your vehicle to your home or office.

Looking for something a bit more high-end? Check out the 3200-LS COLOR. Its dash-mounted color LCD screen displays information including caller and photo ID; you also can browse your phone’s address book.

3200 LS-COLOR

There are plenty of reasons to go hands-free in your vehicle, but in case you're looking for more, consider this:

Virtually every day we hear state lawmakers nationwide talking about banning handheld devices while driving, and the states of Washington and California on July 1 will join three others in making it against the law to hold a cell phone while driving (the Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia also have that ban in place - for a look at cell-phone driving laws across the nation, go here). So not only can you upgrade your mobile calling system and be a safer driver, you also can stay on the right side of the law.
