President-elect Barack Obama
knows his presidency - at least
in its early days - could be
defined by how he handles
the economy.

Economic analysts expect it will be several months before the economy improves.

Count President-elect Barack Obama among them. He has plans to get the economy back on its feet, but he admitted Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press that a recovery is going to take a while.

We've got to provide a blood infusion to the patient right now to make sure that the patient is stabilized. And that means that we can't worry short term about the deficit. We've got to make sure that the economic stimulus plan is large enough to get the economy moving." - President-elect Barack Obama during an interview Sunday on Meet the Press

Obama noted - twice - that the economy "(will) get worse before it gets better" during the interview.
