Auto dealerships nationwide are getting creative in an effort to move their inventory - an inventory that in some cases has been on the lot for months as sales stagnate due to a poor economy and the credit crunch.
A Davie, Fla., dealership - University Dodge - is advertising a buy one, get one offer. Buy one Dodge Ram pickup, get a second one "at no additional cost."
Is this the wave of at least the immediate future for the auto industry? It's something other dealerships have tried previously, though we haven't often seen pickups as part of the plan.
Stay tuned, though - BOGO offers could, at least in the short term, prove a good selling tool for those who've had trouble moving cars and trucks off their lots.
