Meg Whitman is the former CEO of eBay. (eBay)

Republican candidate John McCain may be trailing in the polls, but that hasn't stopped pundits from weighing in on possible picks for his Cabinet should he be elected president.

As noted previously in this space (and judging from the comments, it struck a cord), Mitt Romney is a name that continues to surface, this time as a possible choice to lead the Treasury. As the article notes, Romney has business experience and political skills.

Other names may be more surprising. Among those listed - New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg; Steve Ballmer of Microsoft; Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay; and John Chambers of Cisco Systems.

Whitman may not be as much of a stretch as some might think. After leaving eBay, she reportedly said she might like to run for governor of California.
