The music business has been hit by economic doldrums over the past several years, though some artists have been immune to the downturn.
Take Phish. The band disbanded in 2004, after a two-decade run that saw them rise from a group with a cult following to become something of a cult - a group, like the Grateful Dead, that had fans traveling across the country to see their shows.
According to Billboard magazine, the group grossed some $175 million in revenue and sold nearly 6 million tickets from 1989-2004. Phish survived and thrived while other bands struggled.
And the group today announced it would reunite for three shows next March in Hampton, Va., at Hampton Coliseum - one of the group's favorite venues. The shows will be March 6, 7 and 8 (check out their video here), and the group said it would announce additional 2009 shows early next year.
Tickets for the Hampton shows go on sale to the public Oct. 18.
