Sometimes you and the kids need a break from each other, but you can't find a sitter.  Or they're tracked out for the whole month of December, but you have to get holiday shopping done.  Whatever the reason, there are lots of Parents' Night Out (PNO) and drop off child care programs in the Raleigh area, so keep this checklist handy and use it to plan a date night with your spouse or to get some much-needed Mommy Time.

Note that reservations are required for all of the PNO options below, and although age is not specified on some websites, the implication is four and up and toilet trained for most - so call the individual location if you have questions.  Those restrictions do not apply to the drop off child care facilities at the bottom of the page, but you should still call ahead before you try a new place to make sure they can accomodate your needs.

If you know of a PNO program or a drop-off child care facility not listed here, please let me know.

1)  North Raleigh Gymnastics 5400 Atlantic Springs Road, Raleigh 27616 > Phone: 790-9400

PNO is on the third Friday of each month from 6:30pm - 10pm > $25 first child, discounts for additional children (see registration form for details).

Pizza is served and the kids do all kinds of gymnastics in their fabulous gym space.

2)  Raleigh IcePlex  2601 Raleigh Blvd., Raleigh 27604 > Phone: 878-9002

PNO is "select Fridays" (see calendar) from 6pm - 11pm > $15 per child

Not just ice skating!  Ask to tour their Cool Ventures kids' facilities upstairs, where the kids will play for PNO.  They have a movie room, video game systems, a kid-sized climbing wall, bookshelves and cozy reading areas, and a craft room.

3)  BounceU  3419 Apex Peakway, Apex  27502 > Phone:  303-3368

PNO is the last Friday of each month, 6pm - 10pm > $20 first child, $10 per sibling.

The kids jump, play games, watch a movie, and have dinner.  Bring their jammies and toothbrushes to pickup, because they'll be asleep before you get home.  ;)
