One more victim can now be added to the list of Chicago Public School Students killed this year. Sherrell Wiliamson, a sophomore at Phillips Academy, was shot late on Sunday, November 8th while eating a late night dinner with friends in a parked car in the 1500 block of South Christiana Avenue. Two friends in the car with Sherrell were taken to Mount Sinai hospital with serious-to- critical injuries, and another friend in the car was not shot.
Everyone can agree that one student is one too many to have killed, and the Chicago Public School system has witnessed several killings already this young school year. Proactive measures must be taken by politicians, administration, teachers, and students to combat the violence faced by students every day.
