UPDATE: Three weeks after the story first broke, a Morristown playground is still not safe for children to play on.
As reported here three weeks ago, a playground in the Morristown School District was booby trapped with razor blades by teenagers set out to hurt children. One teenager was cut mltiple times by a blade imbedded in a slide.
School Superintendent David J. Glover said the district is not confident enough to let children play on the grounds, and crews will search the area again with metal detectors and magnetic sweepers and are even discussing plans with insurance companies about replacing the gravel areas where blades were found.
There is no news when the grounds will be safe again, but hope is that the area will be ready for school September 3.
"Will we make that date? I don't know. If we can ensure it'll be safe, we will. If not, we'll have to come up with an alternative means for kids to play outside," said Glover.
