September 22 is American Business Women’s Day (ABW), an annual event that recognizes the accomplishments and achievements of the millions of working women in America. ABW has been celebrated since 1982.

In 1949, American business man Hilary A. Bufton Jr.  founded the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA).  Bufton, along with three business women, incorporated the ABWA on September 22, 1949.  2009 marks the 60th anniversary of the American Business Women’s Association.

Business Women's Day Events:

• National Women’s Leadership Conference - The conference will be held September 24 through September 26th in Kansas City, Mo.
• 5th Annual American Business Women’s Day Luncheon – This annual luncheon will be held in the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
• Albuquerque and Santa Fe Chapter – A luncheon will be held at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.
• 26th Annual American Business Women’s Day Event – The “Pearls of Great Worth” will be held on September 12 .
• Light up the Night with STARS – The 2009 Celebration of American Business Women’s Day will be held in Richmond, Virginia.
